Sophie Lilah is fast proving to be a name in the making for the indie-folk music scene, and latest single “Content But I Find” only solidifies that claim. Only 18, Sophie sensitively bares her artistry through this gentle ballad—her second single in anticipation of the release of her EP, Fear/Instinct, on Friday, August 16.

“Content But I Find” is a slow, delicate indie/folk ballad, which instantly plunges you right into a mellow reverie. The strumming of the guitar is gentle, creating an ambient sound that is both intimate and peaceful. Her ethereal vocals layer over the instrumentation, guiding listeners through a reflective and emotional journey.

The song itself narrates a tale of memories with an old friend, detailing very bittersweet reflections and the pangs of what went wrong. Sophie writes in vivid colors, her soft delivery leaving you floating down a lazy river, absorbing every nuance of her experiences.

Sophie discusses what inspired “Content But I Find,” showing just how personal her songwriting is. “I wrote this when I was on a beautiful holiday in Indonesia with my family. I felt like I should have been extremely happy, everything was perfect. However, I spent most of the time reflecting on a friendship in my life that had just fallen apart and processing that experience.” she reveals.

This song is a dreamy, earthy journey that sets the stage for what is to come in her debut EP. Sophie’s ability to grapple with complex emotions through her music marks her as an up-and-coming talent. “Content But I Find” beautifully tacks on to her discography, ensuring better things to come in the future.
